Chibi Akumas! ZX Spectrum Review & Amstrad Plus Longplay

Back in 2016, a comic-horror bullet-hell shooter by the name of Chibi Akumas made it's way onto the Amstrad CPC to great aplomb. It's author Keith Sear didn't stop there however, and continued his love affair with the bloodthirsty titular Chibiko and released a sequel the following year, introducing her zombie brother Bochan. Now, in 2018 we get to see the game tweeked, polished and released on yet more classic systems; the ZX Spectrum, the MSX2/Turbo R and the Enterprise 128.

You've got waves of enemies appearing at you from all sides, and there's so many damn bullets you don't know which way to turn. It just has to be a bullet hell shooter, which is coming to the ZX Spectrum developed by keith56 and called Chibi Akumas. Announced recently, this game is going to be heavily inspired by Death Smiles with a horror overtone, it will feature unique levels, different enemies and styles and level bosses all as a free download with a phsyical edition soon after.

Top 11 Games for the Amstrad CPC in 2017

2017 was yet again another fine year for homebrew and indie releases for the humble CPC, again boosted by CPCretroDev's yearly competition, but many more games made their way onto the Amstrad from some very talented programmers. Shining, Keith Sear, Naverro, McKlain, 4mhz and more were very busy indeed. The quality of the games has rose to amazing standards, so choosing a Top 11 was tricky to say the least.
