Cathedral - A NES-inspired 8-bit adventure is looking better than ever

Last year Indie Retro News was one of the first sites to give you a new look at Decemberborn's in development NES inspired 8bit adventure ' Cathedral ', which is coming to PC, MAC and Linux at some point in the near future. It looks to have the brilliance of Shovel Knight and the charm of the retro classics while having cool platforming dungeons, unique aesthetics, new items, baddies to fight and puzzles in a world filled with secrets and side-quests. Well that same game has this month been improved further with a lot of work and updates on the game engine, the sprites and the music, which features in a new gameplay video.

Tennis Classics - Novabug takes a look at some retro sports classics!

One of, if not the oldest video game genre's stemming back to 1972's Pong, tennis games are rampant across all systems far and wide, good and bad. With 2016's Wimbledon tournament in full backhand swing, I take a look at several from the 8 and 16 bit eras, starting with the master of serve and volley Pete Sampras on the Sega Mega Drive. I also check the turf on the Spectrum and the Game Boy.

Captain America Defies the Doom Tube & Retro Waffle by Novabug

As many of you know by now we joined up with the excellent Youtuber Novabug of RetroUnlim, who does brilliant gameplay videos plus commentary of some rather fine nostalgic gaming classics. Well seeing as he is still away, but still doing videos, I'll be filling in for him on the writing part until he is officially back later this week. Today's videos include - A few minutes playing Captain America Defies the Doom Tube on the ZX Spectrum with commentary, 1987. And a lot of gaming waffle about the Nintendo NX, the Xbox 1.5, the Playstation 4k, why he will be passing on the whole modern thing, and yes our Indie/Novabug team up!

Some time back now we gave you the first heads up over a gorgeous looking game called Death's Gambit, which is being developed by White Rabbit. Death's Gambit is a pixelated Action RPG sidescroller with rather impressive animation and visuals set in an alien medieval planet filled with horrors, beasts, and knights. Today the developers have just launched a PS4 Reveal Trailer that shows cutscenes and gameplay sequences in various locations that the player will visit and experience. In addition, there is an epic scene of the player riding a horse in a frozen wasteland as the camera zooms out to reveal a giant walking beside him.

Star Citizen - Cloud Imperium shows off new ship and damage model

Star Citizen by Cloud Imperium is certainly dropping jaws with it's graphically intensive cockpit views and scenic space surroundings, but yesterday the developers released two new videos to further wet your appetite.  One such video shows a brand new ship the Retaliator and in flight check, the other, a new damage model which gives us a good indication of what will happen to your ship if you get shot too much.

Outcast Reboot HD - Failed Kickstarter

We've just been informed that Outcast Reboot HD by Fresh3D Inc, have failed to reach the required funding through Kickstarter. They had aimed for a $600,000 goal but with only $255,394 pledged it's pretty much a huge failure. Such a shame really as even I myself was looking forward to this remake of the hit action-adventure classic from 1999. The developers have put forward to the possible reasons to the failure, but there is a positive light on the horizon as they will most likely do another Kickstarter of which I'll be pledging

H1Z1 - The scariness of the Zombie Horde, latest footage!

Just recently Sony Online Entertainment revealed some further details including footage for their latest Zombie Apolocylpse game H1Z1. But it wasn't until today that that we finally get to see just how incredible the hordes really are in H1Z1. The atmosphere at least going by the video looks to the best we've seen so far from any Zombie survival game.
