Fairlight - A brilliant 8-bit Isometric Adventure gets an Atari XL/XE port!

We have just had a really good bit of info in our email box thanks to Bartekh84, as the 8-bit Adventure classic ' Fairlight ' which appeared on the Amstrad CPC, C64 and ZX Spectrum has been converted over to the Atari XL/XE by Mariusz „mariuszw” Wojcieszek, José Pereira, and Bartłomiej „Wieczór” Wieczorkowski. First released in 1985 on the ZX Spectrum and selling over 50,000 copies with awards given by Crash Magazine for best adventure, graphics and music of the year, you play as Isvar, on his quest to find the Book of Light for the court sorcerer, in order for them to escape Castle Avars.

Fairlight was and still is one of the best 8-bit games from the 1980's, it was released by EDGE Games and featured the engine called GRAX which gave us great isometric gameplay against guards and beasts, and as Lemon64 says, "rewards exploration and experimentation". Even today many that remember this game still give it high praise with one such member commenting " I loved this game so much !! The music and the atmosphere of this game is great . I 've never managed to finish it . It was rather slow but great memories anyway" . So you can see why this is one hell of a great release for the Atari XL/XE and one I'm excited to play later as a comparison to the originals such as the C64 or ZX Spectrum.
