Tony Montezuma's Gold - A fabulous monochrome Platformer for the Amiga, AtariXL & Commodore 64

Thanks to Monochrome Productions letting us know, we have been told that if you were hoping to play their newest of creations for the Amiga, Atari XL and C64 called 'Tony Montezuma's Gold'. Then at some point from this article going live, you'll be able to play this top quality platformer that will also be premiered during Pixel Heaven 2024. A game that looks like it could be right at home on a classic Macintosh with monochrome graphics! As ever, Saberman has provided some videos which gives us a better look at the game by Vladimir Jankovic, Dudek, Maciej Małecki, Adam Gilmore, and Sami "Mutetus" Juntunen.

Rob 'n' Banks (Lock 'n' Chase) - An Atari 5200 to Atari XL/XE conversion by Homesoft

We've featured many different conversions on Indie Retro News from Mastertronic's classic Amaurote over to the C64 as an isometric view point, to Allan Turvey's brilliant Arcade to ZX Spectrum conversion of Joust. Well here we are with another great conversion, as if you remember playing Lock 'n Chase back in the day, you may be interested to learn that not only was it converted over to the Atari 5200 in September, but as of just recently you can also play the Atari XL/XE conversion by Homesoft. In light of this news, Saberman has done a new video giving us a first look at the gameplay!

Adam is Me - A lovely looking game that's worth playing on your Atari XL/XE

Here on Indie Retro News we do love writing about the Atari XL/XE, especially with cool games being mentioned such as Screaming Wings, Galaga and even the upcoming port of Wonder Boy. Thankfully there's no let up in this coolness however, as thanks to a heads up from our good friend Saberman, we've been told you can play the previously mentioned game of 'Adam is Me' on your Atari XL/XE right now by Arvi Teikari.

Ultimate Play The Game "Sabre Wulf" is coming to the Atari XL/XE

The retro news just keeps on coming this week, as earlier today we found out ' Sabre Wulf ' will be coming to the Atari XL/XE as a new development port by Robert Stuart with music by Miker. Yes indeed this famous game released in 1984 by Ultimate Play the Game, and originally released on the ZX Spectrum, BBC Micro, C64 and Amstrad CPC, will soon be making its home on the Atari while hopefully keeping all of the original gameplay and graphical style intact.

Montezuma's Revenge - 1980's Atari 8-bit Platforming classic, now with 13 new rooms!

Zbigniew 'Saberman' Zielinski has again contacted us with more great retro gaming info, as he has told us José Tomás Parga has released a rom hack of Montezuma's Revenge and added 13 new rooms giving a new lease of life to this classic game. Montezuma's Revenge was an original game from the early 80's for the Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Atari 8-bit, Apple II, ColecoVision, Commodore 64, IBM PC, Sega Master System, and ZX Spectrum. It combines treasure hunting, lots of rooms, dangerous enemies and deadly fire traps as a highly recommended classic game to play.

Ziggy - Isometric game from 1987 ported to the Atari XL/XE

Way back in 1987 there was a game called 'Ziggy', that was released for the BBC Micro as a three dimensional isometric arcade-adventure, in which you guide Ziggy around a strange world collecting pyramids on a quest to enable him to eventually free his girlfriend. Well that same game originally developed by Dean Lester and published in Electron User, has since been converted over to the Atari XL/XE by Frantisek "Fandal" Houra , Marek "Poison" Pesout and Christian "Irgendwer" Krüger.

Ferrari Grand Prix Challenge - 90's racing game gets an updated WIP Atari XL/XE port tease

Thanks to another heads up from Zbigniew "Saberman" Zieliński, we once again look towards the Atari XL/XE scene as it's just had another preview update of a rather fun racing game titled as Ferrari Grand Prix Challenge (Preview 4). Yes indeed a game that used to be called F-1 Hero MD which first appeared on the Sega Mega Drive and was then ported over to the NES and Gameboy, has yet again been updated to the Atari XL/XE as an early work in progress port with improvements.

Back from my weekend spent with loved ones, it's time to look towards some new updates in the retro scene that should hopefully brighten up your Sunday. The first game we look towards is none other than a game called Ferrari Grand Prix Challenge, which first appeared on the Sega Mega Drive as F-1 Hero MD, and was then ported over to the NES and Gameboy. This game that allowed the player to practice up to six laps or qualify for every Formula One race in a behind the car view point, may well come to the Atari XL/XE as an unofficial port.

Rick Dangerous - An all time favourite game gets an Atari 8-bit port update trailer!

Atari 8-bit owners prepare yourselves for a great update, as the classic platforming game ' Rick Dangerous ', which was developed by Core Design and published by Firebird in 1989 for the Amiga, Amstrad CPC, Atari ST, Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, and DOS, is still coming to the Atari XL and Atari XE! Yes you heard that right, a game that has lived on in the hearts of many and a gem in the retro scene, is being ported over to the Atari 8-bit with a high attention to detail. Fairlight - A brilliant 8-bit Isometric Adventure gets an Atari XL/XE port!

We have just had a really good bit of info in our email box thanks to Bartekh84, as the 8-bit Adventure classic ' Fairlight ' which appeared on the Amstrad CPC, C64 and ZX Spectrum has been converted over to the Atari XL/XE by Mariusz „mariuszw” Wojcieszek, José Pereira, and Bartłomiej „Wieczór” Wieczorkowski. First released in 1985 on the ZX Spectrum and selling over 50,000 copies with awards given by Crash Magazine for best adventure, graphics and music of the year, you play as Isvar, on his quest to find the Book of Light for the court sorcerer, in order for them to escape Castle Avars.

Pang - Enjoyable Arcade classic ported over to the Atari XL/XE

In 1989 the Mitchell Corporation released the brilliant Arcade game ' Pang ', which was later ported over to a multitude of systems by Ocean including the C64, Amstrad CPC, ZX Spectrum Amiga, MS-DOS and Atari ST. However it wasn't until this years Silly Venture 2016 event, that an Arcade port was announced and shown off for the Atari XL/XE. So yes finally Atari XL/XE owners who haven't seen the game yet will be able to play a rather special port, which was created by tebe, ooz, Vidol and stRing and coming first place at the event!

Hot News - Manic Miner released for the Atari XL/XE!

In 1983 Matthew Smith and published by Bug-Byte released the well known classic of Manic Miner for the ZX Spectrum. Although it was later released again by Software Projects, it was the first game in the willy series and was inspired by the Atari 800 game 'Miner 2049'. Not only was it voted number 25 in the Your Sinclair official top 100 Spectrum games of all time, but it had in game music, and sound effects, and if you ever remembered Jet Set Willy, a high amount of addictive gameplay. But today's news isn't for the ZX Spectrum, but a developer by the name of Tezz has ported over the original game to the Atari XL/XE!
