We recently had another racing game already on Indie Retro News, but this game goes even further back in time. Yet I'm sure many of you retro gamers looking at the video grab will know exactly what game this is based on. Basically it's a remastered Pole Position, called Grand Prix! It's the remastered edition for today's computers, sure it doesn't have amazing graphics but it has to be as close to the original style as possible.
Grand Prix is being developed by Robbert from Foppygames and programmed in Blitz Max.
The term "pseudo-3d" is often used to indicate that even though these games draw roads in a three dimensional perspective, the techniques used are not those of a full 3D engine as seen in other games, which would technically allow the player to turn around. Instead, 2D drawing techniques are used to mimic what could have been the result of a 3D engine displaying the same road from the same angle all of the time.A game to look out for, Indie Retro News will post as soon as it's available so you don't miss out on this fantastic little retro racer.
Check out the website and more of his fantastic retro style games!
