Scourge of the Underkind - Early test of a new Amiga engine & game

One of our Commodore Amiga Facebook members by the name of Wayne Ashworth, has just announced to the group a new game engine that has been designed by Magnus for the use on an Amiga. As a very early test run of this engine, a new game is also being developed called Scourge of the Underkind, which had a first map test in the engine, that shows off very good animation at 50hz and full screen on the Amiga 500.

According to Wayne, he has been using this test map to add variant tiles to the map to help things to look nicer, plus as a test of speed, the keys flying around are there to show how much you can have on-screen at once, sprite wise without a drop in frame rate. Any lag or jerking in this video is caused by the emulator and/or recording software.

Do note however, that there is a lot to be done, and the video is just to show off the animation and the game engine at work, with future gameplay a love-letter to our favourite bits from Gods, Chaos Engine and Alien Breed with their own ideas all mashed up into what the developers hope will be a fun FREE game for amigas and will run on an unexpanded 500 at 50hz!

Features will include multiple weapon-types, various demons and bosses and also vast dungeons to explore...and a shop!

So if you have Facebook, come and talk to the team and give them your feedback! I can't wait to see the end result of both the engine and the game.
