Throughout all these years, right from the very beginning of Indie Retro New's birth, I have always tried to feature as many Dungeon Crawlers as possible, whether it be clones, remakes or even ports. But today's news is a bit of an eye opener, as thanks to a heads up by AtariCrypt one of the most amazing Dungeon Crawlers of all time ' Dungeon Master ' and yes even the sequel ' Chaos Strikes Back ', has received an audio upgrade for the Atari STe!
It's incredible to think that Dungeon Master was viewed as a revolution as a new way to explore and interact with a dungeon maze within a role playing game when it was first released for the Atari ST. It was also a famous Dungeon Crawler that appeared on the Atari ST first in 1987, and then other systems such as the Amiga, Apple IIGS, DOS, SNES, TurboGrafx-CD, Sharp X68000, PC-9801, and FM Towns. Although as a preference I still prefer the much loved Eye of the Beholder on the Amiga, and the legendary Lands of Lore on the PC.
So what about the audio improvement? Well according to the source, 8BitChip have updated Dungeon Master with DMA sounds for the Atari STe ( MSTE/TT/Falcon). Also as a further update the same team have updated the audio for Chaos Strikes Back, So not exactly a major overhaul of the game, it doesn't need it, but at least it sounds so much better!
