The CRPG Book: A Guide to Computer Role-Playing Games launches for pre-orders!

Throughout my youth I've always been an RPG gamer, I used to love playing games such as Dungeon Master, Lands of Lore, Albion or even the later style of Fallout, Baldurs Gate and Dark Messiah. Especially when I get to read a grand story of the adventures ahead, while choosing my own legendary hero to battle demon like foes and the hunt for lost treasures. There's just so many RPG's I've played and enjoyed, that it's also why I'm mentioning this latest announcement of 'The CRPG Book'; a gorgeuos Hard Back pre-order containing 500 pages of highly detailed write ups about those classic games, including a mass load of RPG images.

Aeon of Sands - Dungeon Crawling RPG love letter to the 90's gets new footage

As most of you know I'm a huge Dungeon Crawling RPG fan, especially games that hark back to the days of Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder or Lands of Lore. Thus it's with some excitement to announce that the work in progress crawler 'Aeon of Sands ' developed by Two Bits Kid, has been shown off with new footage giving us a glimpse at the new magic system, new spell selection and new audio ambient track.

The Shadows of Sergoth - A Dungeon Crawler on the Amstrad CPC? HELL YEH!

I'm almost in complete disbelief as I've only just been contacted by Chris94 about a brand new dungeon crawler called ' The Shadows of Sergoth ', that is not only a homebrew game, but it's a first person grid based dungeon crawler and made for the Amstrad CPC 6128. Now you may wonder as to why I'm in shock, that's because these types of games as a homebrew are a rarity on the Amstrad (it's mainly platformers and shooters), but from the footage below it looks very impressive indeed!

But today's news I think will pass the time for many, as thanks to a heads up by GameNostaliga via our twitter page, one of the most amazing Dungeon Crawlers of all time ' Dungeon Master ' has been packed together with the Amiga frontend emulator FS-UAE and made easily launchable on a PC.

In this mighty crawler you play as four champions summoned to embark on a noble journey to save all of humanity in the world of Bornia from an evil fate. Although we do gaming write ups, we tend not to mention every single update that happens to games while they are in Early Access. A game during that stage of feedback development, can be a completely different beast to when they are first mentioned, plus it's hugely time consuming. But when it comes to Hydro Games dungeon crawler of ' Dungeon Kingdom ', of which we did an early preview. Not only is it an enjoyable experience to play so far, but the developers have today announced a number of features added to the game, with one of them being a highly requested Auto-map!

It’s that time again - a new grid based first person dungeon crawler has been released and I’ve been really looking forward to this one! I've been following it’s progress for a while and building up a fair amount of anticipation and expectation. Now it’s out, and even if it’s in Early Access right now, I could not resist giving it a play through. After a successful Steam Greenlight campaign, and multiple features on our site, the developers behind the most impressive looking Dungeon Crawler 'Dungeon Kingdom' have today announced a Steam Early Access date at the end of this month (25th September to be precise). Although the game was not an Indiegogo success, the developers have continued to develop this old school dungeon styled crawler and hope the in game features such as multiple dungeons (outdoors), continuous non loading levels, cross platform saving, advanced graphics, real physics using PhysX, an advanced AI, and an advanced navigation system will be a hit with gamers both young and old.

The developers Hydro-Games studio have constantly kept us up to date with their latest dungeon crawling romp 'Dungeon Kingdom : Sign of the Moon' and so far we've been suitably impressed. Although the game will feature a modern graphics engine with a powerful dynamic lighting and shadows system, achievements, a deep story, indoor and outdoor environments we've yet to see the physics in the game, until now. Legend of Grimrock 2 - Now in Beta gets a teaser trailer!

As a huge fan of Lands of Lore, Eye of the Beholder and Dungeon Master, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Legend of Grimrock 2, developed by Almost Human Ltd is now officially in Beta. A sequel to the incredible Legend of Grimrock, which sold well over 600,000 copies world wide, will have all new game features, enemies, new levels and outdoor levels which was an awesome experience in both Eye of the Beholder 2 and Lands of Lore.

Games I remember, with a remake - Dungeon Master

Well the time has finally arrived, it's time for Dungeon Master. The most epic of Dungeon Crawlers ever created, a game so popular that if you went onto any gaming forum today and said Dungeon Master you'd probably get every retro gamer going in a posting frenzy. But what is Dungeon Master? Dungeon Master is an early grid-based 3D real time rpg, that was first developed and published by FTL Games for the Atari ST in 1987.  It was so popular that it sold over 40,000 copies and became the ST's best selling product of all time, but even though it's home was the Atari ST, it went onto other platforms.
