Indie Retro News celebrates over 6 years of gaming news!

It's incredible to think that this year will be another year under our belt and our anniversary of over 6 years since our gaming creation in the late part of 2011! Over many years of posting the latest gaming news on certain forums, (originally just quotes) I had a dream to create my own gaming website, one that would suit both fans of the Indie scene and the Retro scene and would reach out to as many people as possible, which includes those of you in the Amiga, Amstrad, C64, ZX Spectrum, Sega Master System, NES and even the BBC Micro scene. Thus in late 2011 Indie Retro News was born and over time has seen a huge surge in views with the end result of being a part of the top 5 retro gaming blog, the top 10 retro gaming blog, and the top popular blogs to Follow!

As you can see in the original screenshot above, that's how the site used to look all those years ago, a true blog look, with re-posted articles, re-used screenshots and full quotes from other gaming sources. But it had to change and sure enough, I and our team such as ABrugsch, AlanG, Florinthedwarf, GamesInBits, Hayesmaker, Novabug, Scotty Ermerle-Sifuentes, Steve Trower, The Games Helmet, and even Thermoptic do our own write ups and put our hearts and soul into what we do, to really make this site a unique place to be

We are not like other sites, we try to avoid posting the same news that other sites do and will never visit others to use their gaming news and sources as our own. In actual fact if someone sends us gaming news we missed out on, a thanks is always given as an appreciation.

These last two years also saw a massive increase in game development from across the range, such as new games or ports including Sams Journey, Organism, Eye of the Beholder C64, Worthy, Risky Rick and many more. Not just games either but new hardware and gaming books including the C64 Mini, new Amiga cases and of course Chris Wilkins fantastic Crash Annual 2018 and the upcoming Zzap! 64 Annual 2019. In light of this, we launched our Game Dev : RetroGaming Facebook group (link) with Retro Video Gamer & Gaming Legends.

A brand new group for all developers and retro gaming fans from around the world to come together to chat and or to show off their latest new games in development, finished for retro consoles and computers, and finally ROM hacks. Consoles such as the NES, Sega Mega Drive, SNES and computers including the Amstrad, Amiga, C64, ZX Spectrum or even PC (DOS) to name but a few.. ( Other Facebook groups have since appeared in support of ours, one within 5 hours! )

But with celebration comes a request, as a lot of the effort goes in to the site from myself and our other writers, we still need your support through donations to help keep our site going into the future and staying as one of the best indie/retro gaming news sites on the web for our readers and those of you who create such fantastic games.

So if you love what we do, the fact we don't use adverts, and want to support us into the next 6 years, how about a little helping hand through our Patreon Campaign? (Link).

Have a great one guys and girls, you are all awesome!
