Microtopia - A prototype of a city-builder simulation game for the Amiga via Amiga Blitz Basic Game Jam

Even more games to get through for the Commodore Amiga, as looking through the Amiga Blitz Basic Game Jam, we've also come across another game called 'Microtopia' by Ripper253. This game according to the creator is a prototype of a city-builder simulation game and as such expect a lot of missing features as it was written in Blitz Basic 2.1, learning Blitz Basic while only getting the majority of the coding done within the last 4 days of the game-jam. To coincide with this news, Saberman has done a video of the game but do be aware the music is rather loud.

As noted by the website "The game features randomly generated maps and three different species of inhabitant to provide for, Crows farm the land while industrious Beavers provide robust building materials, while the Moths fascinations with technology will help keep your advanced buildings running". The creator also goes on to say "Many features had to be cut as I simply didn't have enough time, even some big features such as deleting buildings, other features that didn't make the cut, but may be added in a later iteration that were :

  • In-game help, buildings requiring local resources, buildings requiring able workers, multiple map size options and a scrollable map as well as detailed statistics, a more advanced building system or even multiple scenarios"
