Megafrog - A work in progress Amiga Frogger game but with a difference!
While the choice is there to play lots of other different versions of Frogger that we have featured on Indie Retro News, such as our personal favorite 'Frogger Arcade' by Hokuto Force for the C64. I thought it would still be worth mentioning this Frogger clone that has been sent to us, and it's 'Megafrog' for the Amiga by Friar85; an in development clone for the Amiga Blitz Basic Jam competition, where you can eat enough dragonflies to grow big enough to eat Cars!
Microtopia - A prototype of a city-builder simulation game for the Amiga via Amiga Blitz Basic Game Jam
Even more games to get through for the Commodore Amiga, as looking through the Amiga Blitz Basic Game Jam, we've also come across another game called 'Microtopia' by Ripper253. This game according to the creator is a prototype of a city-builder simulation game and as such expect a lot of missing features as it was written in Blitz Basic 2.1, learning Blitz Basic while only getting the majority of the coding done within the last 4 days of the game-jam. To coincide with this news, Saberman has done a video of the game but do be aware the music is rather loud.

Blower - A Bomberman clone for the Commodore Amiga via Amiga Blitz Basic Game Jam
When I was growing up there was a game I used to love playing with friends, whereby your task was to drop bombs and blow up other enemies in a maze like game screen. That game was Bomberman also known as Dynablaster. A great game which was actually first released way back in 1983 by Hudson Soft and then published by Konami. In fact the reason we are mentioning the game today is for the release of Blower : a brand new Bomberman clone for the Commodore Amiga entered into the Amiga Blitz Basic Game Jam.

ACE Battle Over The Sea - A cool 1942 inspiration arrives on the Commodore Amiga via the Blitz Basic Game Jam
In 1984 a great shoot 'em up was released for the Arcade by Capcom and that game was 1942. A game in which you shoot down enemy planes, avoided being shot out of the sky and performed awesome rolls while collecting power ups. It was an awesome game and still is today, but thanks to DarkGiver and his Blitz Basic Game Jam entry, we have a brand new Arcade Shoote 'em up for the Amiga that is inspired by 1942/3 called 'ACE Battle Over The Sea'. In light of this news, Saberman has done a new gameplay video of the game which as ever is viewable below.

Something slightly different for today's retro heads up, as we've just been contacted through Twitter, that as from May 31st 2022, there will be the launch of the Amiga Blitz Basic Game Jam hosted by zooperdan; a brand new creation contest for developers from around the world to develop some new games for the Amiga using Blitz Basic or AmiBlitz. As in their words " The idea behind this jam is to grow the community and increase knowledge and awareness around Amiga and the use of Blitz Basic and AmiBlitz to create games. This means that all submitted games must include the source code so that beginner developers will have examples to study and learn from ".
