--=O O=-- - Paint the screen with your balls in this new ZX Spectrum game by Briefer666

Another ZX Spectrum game has arrived, as homebrew developer Briefer666 has released an updated build of --=O O=--, a unique competitive multiplayer game for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum. The core objective of --=O O=-- is simple yet frantic that will have you hooked: players must completely paint their half of the screen before their opponent does. Each player commands a distinct dual-setup consisting of both a ball and a sharp blade. A blade that must be avoided at all costs... One wrong move and it's back to the "safety" zone for you.

The golden age of Commodore 64 gaming is getting a modern, social makeover. Twitch streamer Andrew Hayes, the mind behind C64-Cade, has officially pulled back the curtain on C64-Live, a groundbreaking platform that transforms the legendary Commodore 64 into a real-time, multiplayer experience directly in your web browser. The platform allows a host to launch a C64 session on a remote server and stream it instantly. From there, a second player can jump into the action from anywhere in the world.

Super combat 3 - An Amiga multiplayer game was lost and now recovered thanks to emulation.

A long-lost piece of Commodore Amiga history has officially resurfaced. Super Combat 3, an intense two-player action title developed in 1995 by the coder known as Hambo3, has been recovered from digital oblivion and made available to the public. According to the creator this game was written entirely in assembly language on original Amiga hardware during the mid-90s. Thankfully after all this time this now lost game has been recovered having been successfully salvaged through modern emulation techniques.

As checking my emails, there's been an update via Itch io that KD Software has released the fast-paced, competitive platform game for two players called 'Robo Gems'. A digital and cassette release that the creator says "Get ready for an intense retro challenge on your Commodore 64 — fast, colorful, and full of arcade energy!" 

Wheelchair Gladiators Championship Edition - A follow up to the Amiga classic enhanced for AGA! [XMAS UPDATE]

Growing up I used to collect a lot of Amiga PD games, especially as dad took me to boot fairs and markets and was happy to scan through the latest catalogue of PD games. Well one such PD game that has made an appearance for the Amiga, albeit enhanced, is Wheelchair Gladiators Championship Edition. The long awaited AGA follow up to the Amiga original from 1994. It's faster, has more weapons, special moves, hats and more inclusive. To coincide with this news, provided below is the latest details and trailer from the developer known as Hambo3.

Amstrad owners if you are feeling a little left out worry not! As looking through my inbox for new games to talk about, and Xenomorph was kind enough to let us know, that Titan has released the new Amstrad CPC game of 'Speed Racer' by RetroPoke. A multiplayer Tron like game, that features different rounds of fun for up to 8 players pitted against each other (4 humans and 4 computer-controlled opponents). To coincide with this news, below is the latest info from the website as well as footage from Xenomorph.

The Pretzelves - A family friendly present throwing C64 game from Pretzel Logic

Some more festive fun for our retro gaming readers, is the latest release of the family friendly arena based game from Pretzel Logic called 'The Pretzelves ' for the Commodore 64. A game in which you not only have to collect presents for a high-score, but you are in competition with another elf to collect as many presents as possible, without being knocked, or pranked hindering your progress. To coincide with this news, we've got a brief description about the game as well as some gameplay footage.

TankX - An enhanced version of a 1994-1996 Commodore Amiga game originally by Hippopotamus Design

While the other Tank game which had inspirations to Combat was released for the Commodore 64, thanks to Saberman giving us the heads up earlier today through Facebook, we've been told you can now download the top down multiplayer Tank game of TankX for the Commodore Amiga by Koobo. A new game which is an enhanced version of the 1994-1996 Commodore Amiga game called Tankk by Hippopotamus Design (link). To coincide with this news, we've got some more info about this release as well as a short gameplay teaser.

Rally Cross 1.0 - Multiplayer top down racing game for the Amiga by Ozzyboshi and team

I'm a huge top down racing fan, from games such as Micro Machines to Supercars and Indy Heat on the Amiga. Well here's another top down racing game you might like to try that was recently updated for the Commodore Amiga, and it's 'Rally Cross 1.0' via Ozzyboshi and team; A tiny racing game that wasn't just featured as a developer diary during Phaze 101's game jam on car racing games, but also as a new release at the Flashparty 2023.

Crawlers - A revamped version of the classic Snake game for up to 8 players for the MSX


After all these MSX and MSX 2 games we've been mentioning, you'd think we'd be having a break but not so! As we've recently found out by trawling the latest msxdev competition page, that Pixel Phenix has released the arcade party game of 'Crawlers': A game in which the website describes as a revamped version of the classic Snake game, allowing 8 party members to join-in. To coincide with this news, Saberman has done a short play through of this crazy yet enjoyable game for the MSX.

Penny Postie - A charming Winter game released by Vintage Computing Carinthia for the C64


Another retro gaming news story to get through even if it's nearly midnight, as if you're looking for something rather unique to load up on your C64, it might be worth your time checking out this charming game from Vintage Computing Carinthia called 'Penny Postie'; A new Arcade game in which you need to deliver parcels through a snowstorm in the allotted time. In light of this new game news, Saberman has done a video of the gameplay viewable below.

Chaos Arena - Be careful not to fall off in this new multiplayer Amiga game by Last Minute Creations

Last Minute Creations is certainly no stranger to Indie Retro News, creating unique games such as GermZ and Atarenium Falcon. Well here we are with another Amiga news story for our fine readers, as the same developer has contacted us to let you know of a new game they've released called 'Chaos Arena'. A new multiplayer game in which playing as any number of warriors on the screen must push each other off the Arena to be the last Warrior standing. In light of this news, Saberman has also done a gameplay video for you to watch.

Tiny Deathmatch - A Multiplayer game released for the Amstrad CPC by Francesc Alcaucer

Something slightly different for today's retro heads up, as we've just been contacted by a good friend of ours through Facebook, that as of just recently you can download the latest release of Tiny Deathmatch for the Amstrad CPC by Francesc Alcaucer. A new game in which you either fight against other players or the CPU, as a multiplayer death match game programmed 100% in Locomotive Basic for the CPCRetrodev 2022 competition.

Settle The World - A Colonization fan game for the Amiga by Theo Theoderich gets a preview download!

If you loved playing Sid Meier's Colonization, then it might be worth keeping an eye on Theo Theoderich's in development game of Settle The World. A game that isn't just inspired by the classic that many of us still love to this day, but according to the creator who gave us the update. Settle The World is in development for the Amiga BlitzBasic Jam 2022 as a turn based building and trading game with you versus another player (Single Player mode is also planned, but it will be all the more difficult because there are no trading partners - EAB).

Lane Crazy - A ball rolling C64 party game via Blazon Games Division is now available for all!

Yet another C64 heads up for you all, as we've recently been informed by Saberman that the previously announced game of 'Lane Crazy' which was teased through ZZAP patreon page is now finally available for all to enjoy through the itch io link below. For those of you who haven't heard of this game before, not only is it a new release by Blazon Games Division but it is a multiplayer party rolling game whereby you play against other players while avoiding falling through the holes!

GET EM DX - A one or two player maze-based arcade C64 game released!


We have certainly been flooded with C64 news this month, what with Super Mario Bros, 1337 Karage, Rivarly, Mashed Turtles and Panzer gracing our Commodore screens. But now it looks as if another game is ready to be enjoyed, as we've just been contacted through our twitter page that RGCD has released GET EM DX; a previously discontinued C64 cartridge game that was developed in house by Georg Rottensteiner, Ilija Melentijevic and Sean Connolly.

'

Sails of Doom - Atari XL/XE 8 player cannon action on the high seas!


Take a pinch of Sid Meier's Pirates, add in some multiplayer deathmath action, and release it for the Atari XL/XE and you'll probably end up with this game, Sails of Doom. A new homebrew game by Antonin Holi, whereby sailing your mighty frigate you need to traverse each map screen and destroy up to 8 players using skills you've learned sailing the high seas.

Schlimeisch Mania II - C64 game for up to 8 players, released by Unreal!


The Walking Death for the C64 wasn't the only game to grace our retro screens today as the same team behind that game we enjoyed earlier, has also released a game called Schlimeisch Mania II, which as you guessed it was also released at the Schlimeisch 2018 event. Unlike the previous game however this one isn't a shooter but instead is a mix of Tron and Worms for up to 8 players.
