Another ZX Spectrum game has arrived, as homebrew developer Briefer666 has released an updated build of --=O O=--, a unique competitive multiplayer game for the Sinclair ZX Spectrum. The core objective of --=O O=-- is simple yet frantic that will have you hooked: players must completely paint their half of the screen before their opponent does. Each player commands a distinct dual-setup consisting of both a ball and a sharp blade. A blade that must be avoided at all costs... One wrong move and it's back to the "safety" zone for you.
Here's the latest from the developer "The game consists of painting half of the screen before your rival. You handle a ball and a blade. When you move the ball, the blade also moves diagonally. If your ball touches your or your opponent's blade, you die and go to the "safety" zone left and right. When you run out of paint, a bucket appears in your safety zone. But be careful, your rival can steal it from you! If you keep shooting, your ball stops moving and you move your blade. Use it to ambush your rival!
The developer noted that the production on --=O O=-- originally paused last year before being completed for this release. The title is designed strictly as a two-player local multiplayer experience, meaning an artificial intelligence option for single-player games against the computer is not included. Because the project was revived after a long hiatus, the author mentions that minor bugs may still be present. To foster community collaboration, Briefer666 has publicly shared the source code, inviting other enthusiasts to tweak or expand upon the game.
