Pooyan - A 1980's Arcade game for the Commodore Amiga by JOTD (music by no9) [UPDATE]

JOTD has created some amazing conversions/ports over the years. Games such as Moon Patrol, Donkey Kong, Super Bagman, Galaxian500 and our personal favorite Super Xevious. Well it doesn't look anything is going to stop this powerhouse of a developer from creating Arcade to Amiga conversions any time soon. As he has recently announced an almost 100% complete Arcade to Amiga version of 'Pooyan' with music by no9.

If you haven't heard the name Pooyan before, you'll probably be interested to know it was an Arcade game released in 1982 by Konami, and featured Mamma Pig defending her home and rescuing her baby piglets(Pooyan) from menacing wolves that in the first stage are floating down to get you using balloons. And that's all we can say about the game, but as soon as the game has been officially released, I'll make sure to update this article with the final version.....

Current limitations:

  • - slow for A500, but runs well on A1200 or any 020 machine. But has a 25FPS mode now
  • - minor bugs

Credits:

  • - jotd: reverse-engineering, 68000 transcode, graphics conversion, sound conversion for the Amiga.
  • - no9: music & help with sfx
  • - PascalDe73: icon
  • - Konami: original game

What's new in the 1.01 Update:
  • - better music replay (sfx channels moved)
  • - more optimized redraw

Veramente stupendo. Il feeling da Bar e' rimasto inalterato come nel cabinato. Complimenti.
