Track'N'Field - Centuri/Konami's button mashing Sports game gets an Amiga release! [UPDATE]

Checking my inbox for the latest game news, and I've found out through Saberman, that JOTD's previously mentioned work in progress Arcade to Amiga port of the button mashing game of 'Track & Field' by Centuri/Konami. Has finally been released as a v.1.04 for the Commodore Amiga with music by n09! A game in which, as one person puts it " Is Going to be a big hit this one (in relative Amiga terms) as its a absolute belter of a game, on par with Hyper Sports for pure addictiveness!".

Here's the game info from wikipedia. "Players compete in a series of events, most involving alternately pressing two buttons as quickly as possible to make the onscreen character run faster. The game uses a horizontal side-scrolling format, displaying one or two tracks at a time, a large scoreboard that shows world records and current attempts, and a packed audience in the background. The game was a worldwide commercial success in arcades, becoming one of the most successful arcade games of 1984".

  2. Never played this in the arcades but one of my friends had it on his computer. Had a lot of fun and laughs with it especially because we were terrible at it.

  3. I love this game in the arcades but even now after all these years I still haven’t got past the high jump, I've watched tutorial video's and read forum posts about it but just cannot do it.

  4. I learned how to do it only recently :) press "jump" briefly near the poles then press "run" to go higher. Once you're high enough, press "jump" again to adjust angle and let the jumper end the movement.

  5. It is the pole vault that always got me - man that is the tough one. High jump - as JOTD states, sure it auto runs for you - then tap jump a good space before it - then watch yourself rise, then just tap jump a couple of more times to adjust your body and it moves you over the bar

    1. Pole Vault (from Hyper Sports) is hard at start is finally not so complicated. The hard part was that it was the last event and you only had 3 tries. I trained a bit and now I can manage it. 1) time the first "fire" press to make it just at the end of the pole trap 2) press until the pole is vertical 3) release fire and press runs like crazy. Should do the trick.
