Pengo - A classic Arcade game from 1982 has arrived on the MSX 2

Way back in 1982, Coreland published by Sega released the Arcade game of 'Pengo', A maze like game in which playing as a penguin, you must survive each round by eliminating all Sno-Bees and Sno-Bee eggs with sliding blocks, while optionally lining up the three diamond blocks for a large bonus. Well today's news is pretty interesting for fans of this classic game, as Paxanga Software has released a port of the Arcade game over to the MSX 2.

While the game was also ported to the Atari 7800 by darryl1970 and to the Amiga by JOTD. Here's the latest from the website about the MSX 2 version "Port of the legendary Arcade Machine. Help Pengo to defeat all the Sno-Bees that go behind him while he crosses all the mazes. Squash them with the ice blocks or stop them temporally using the screen borders. Don't let them to use their sting on you!".

  1. This is weird, I’ve got what appears to be the exact same MSX port with a filedate of 2019, and the copyright message says it’s actually from 2010.

  2. Yes this is a game from 2010 by Paxanga, not a new version.

    1. "Please, note that the game was released in cartridge in 2010 (out of stock now)." Looks like this is the digital download version :/

  3. Ok I remembered that a port did exist even in cartridge form. I have been wanting to play it for quite some time but could never find a download. It does look good from the screenshots. May finally get to trying it out.
