The Gate - A WIP action-adventure game inspired by Impossible Mission and Project Firestart for the Amiga [UPDATE]

Looking through my Twitter feed to see if any games were worth talking about, that's either in development or newly released, and I've come across an upcoming Amiga game called 'The Gate' by Allanon. A game that the developer says, "is an action-adventure, that is highly inspired by Impossible Mission and Project Firestart". The game when finished, will have 64 Color graphics (EHB), a dynamic dialogue system, interactive Terminals, puzzles, a huge map, an engaging story, equippable devices, and enemies & bosses (each with their own brain scripts that make them a bit of unpredictable).

Here's further details by the developer. "I've posted about my game some time ago in the coders section, and now I'd like to share it with a broader audience  I've started to work on this project on September 2023, so I've spent almost two years or more to try to create something new and nice for the Amiga classic. I've used AMOS Professional with Turbo Plus and AMCAF extensions to bring it to life". Furthermore, the game take place into a distopyan world and you are a private investigator called Kal Debris. Kal's agency is underperforming and full of debts, but one day, Kal receives an email from Dr. Sara Dinet, who hires him to research her missing colleague and friend Robert".

UPDATE : It has been many months now since the game was first announced, and throughout that time, the developer has kept the community up to date with the latest progress for The Gate. So rather than me waffle on and repeat vast pages of updates, I will however show off some of the new videos from the game, as well as mention there's new rooms, new enemy variants, energy shields, Institute's AI accessible via a terminal, background music and so much more! In fact it might be worth you visiting the games page below and follow the latest from Allanon.

The game is not AGA but uses EHB (64 colors), here is the proof

  6. With my Indivision AGA MK3 in my A1200 i only get a black screen as soon as i get to the game-screen. The menu works fine, after i choose New Game and choose a game-slot the screen goes black and i get a flashing screen with the game-screen from time to time.
Booted without startup-sequence and run the game from there but same problem.

  7. Well, this looks very intriguing - the kind of game that would absorb you for hours. Great work. One slight comment: at this stage, I am not seeing any great benefit from the EHB colours in the graphics. The graphics ARE attractive, though. But If the game runs into chip RAM limitations, I think that using only 16 colours would be a good option and will not change the graphics very much.

    Overall, a very interesting project!
