Stunt Car Racer Remake - Fan based PC remake in the works of one of Geoff Crammonds finest games

Stunt Car Racer was one of the best stunt style racers for the Amiga, and one of Geoff Crammonds finest games. Yet what made it so good was not just the feeling of speed, but the thrill of accelerating into the sky and coming back down with an almighty crack, especially if you ended up missing the track altogether such as on the Ski Jump. So you can probably see why I'm just that little bit excited, as a fan by the name of omenoid and ptitSeb, has released a new PC remake of the game. A new version that was originally sourced from D. Vernon and A. Copland's version released back in 2019

Although it looks as if there's still a long way to go with the team saying the win32 remake is far from dead. You can check out the latest video above which shows a fully working suspension, car physics,  fully modelled tracks, and much more you'll just have to experience for yourselves.

  • Original Remake by D. Vernon, A. Copland. Later updates by ptitSeb and omenoid.
  • Smooth frame rate patch by Bjoern Gdanietz and omenoid.

  1. If only there was some kind of multiplayer between two computers on the PC platform!!!! It is so badly needed for one of the greatest games of all time. *looking over at the two Amiga computers with a null link cable.

  2. I was a fan of the original in c64 but it would be a lot better if they cover poligons with textures.

  6. Wish this could run on older PCs/Windows 95/DOS. Been obsessed with my Gateway 2000 Pentium 120 machine.

  7. It's really good but runs in slow motion on a 240hz screen! Have to lower it to 60hz to run at proper speed!

    3. Could you post the build here so that I could get feedback if there are still a lot of people for whom it still doesn't?

  8. A proper Amiga remake aimed at accelerated AGA machines would be cool, or perhaps a hack that allowed this game to run at more than 15 FPS...

  11. "one of Geoff Crammonds finest games"....I dont think so....very boring in my opinon... . F1GP was FAR better - especially later ones on PC.

    1. Deffo your opinion ;) "Editors of Your Sinclair voted Stunt Car Racer as the 1989 game of the year.[21] ACE listed it as one of the five greatest racing games of all time[22] and Top Gear the 45th best racing game.[23] Amiga Power, CU Amiga, and Your Sinclair ranked it respectively the 10th, the 11th, and the 85th best game of all time for the platforms they covered,[24][25][26] and Amiga Format likewise named it one of the 15 best Amiga games.[27] Several publications consider it to be one of the greatest video games of all time; Edge listed it as the 54th best game in 2000,[28] Stuff the 77th in 2008,[29] and Polygon the 355th in 2017.[30]" And that was just copied from the wiki! - As for Lemon Amiga "Sir Geoffrey of Crammond gives us a rollercoaster racer that was unlike anything on the machines at the time"

  12. That version has been around since 2012. I still have it on my HDD archive. Maybe Indieretronews and Amigabill weren´t around by then :-)

  13. It says "Error executing program" on Windows XP Pro 32 bit sp3. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I also have Linux Mint but I don't know what I have to do with Github files.
