Barbarian - HOT NEWS as Barbarian: The Ultimate Warrior" arrives on the Atari XL/XE

For decades, Atari enthusiasts have felt a void without one of the most iconic fighting games from the 1980's. Today, that "historical bug" has finally been fixed. Team Vega have released a brand-new port of the legendary Barbarian, built from the ground up specifically to harness the unique power of the Atari XL and XE line. As one person puts it "The highly anticipated release of "Barbarian: The Ultimate Warrior" for the Atari XL/XE series is here. This version has evolved dramatically since its first teaser some years back promising an unforgettable experience for retro gaming fans."

While the game was coded specifically for Atari hardware to ensure peak performance, the development team took a "best of" approach to the game's assets. This definitive version features: Visuals: High-fidelity graphics adapted from the Amstrad CPC. Audio: Iconic digitized voice samples sourced from the Amiga version and finally, Architecture: Optimized code structures inspired by the BBC Micro port. The result is a custom-tailored experience that looks and sounds better than many thought possible on 8-bit hardware!

  • This game works on standard ATARI XE/XL with 64KB RAM (on PAL nad NTSC). It's a pity the game wasn't created in the past but now we are fixing this bug. You must defeat 8 opponents to reach the final battle with the sorcerer. if you defeat him the princess will be free !
