We turn our attention to the Amstrad GX4000 for a new game, with the release of Pinaut GX, a new adaptation crafted by developer ShaCPC. A game which was originally coded by Minsoft and published in the pages of the Spanish edition of Your Computer magazine (Issue 7). In this resurrected Amstrad CPC title, players are thrown into the claustrophobic, maze-like depths of Tutankhamun's Great Pyramid. Survival depends entirely on your reflexes as you navigate treacherous screen layouts, avoid deadly traps, and outmanoeuvre aggressive mummies that relentlessly pursue you through every twist and turn.
What makes this particular version interesting is how it has been thoughtfully re-engineered for the GX4000. ShaCPC has completely overhauled the game's mechanics to strip away any need for the original computer keyboard, modifying the code to support fluid joystick and gamepad controls instead. This makes it perfect for sitting back with a standard controller and tackling the game's intense, score-driven loop. To conquer each stage, you must explore every hidden corner, dodge a calculated step-tracker enemy designed to corner you, and snatch up every item in sight to rack up a high score and advance to the next harrowing level.
- Currently the game seems a bit on the slow side, hopefully it's sped up with an update :)
