Juan J. Martínez is back with Outpost, a brand-new platform-adventure for the classic ZX Spectrum 48k. The game kicks off with a classic sci-fi nightmare: your spaceship has crash-landed on a deeply hostile world. You wake up inside a medical pod in what appears to be a completely deserted mining outpost. It isn’t empty for long, though—the place is crawling with aggressive alien creatures. Your main goal is simple but challenging: explore the base, survive the hostile environment, and find a way to escape the planet alive.
Structurally, Outpost plays like a classic "Metroidvania" mixed with the nostalgic charm of the Oliver Twins’ iconic Dizzy series. You will need to navigate through 90 screens of tight platforming action, dodging enemies while hunting down 8 crucial items. These objects are the key to unlocking hidden sections of the map and ultimately securing your ticket home. Martínez handled the entire development himself, coding the game, designing the graphics, and composing the audio with authentic 1-bit beeper music and sound effects!
