Wizball - Enhanced ZX Spectrum Edition - A brilliant game from the 1980's is enhanced by Gravious

Gravious has launched Wizball Enhanced Edition for the  ZX Spectrum 128k. This new release revitalises the legendary 1987 horizontally scrolling shooter originally crafted by Jon Hare and Chris Yates of Sensible Software and published by Ocean. In this surreal arcade adventure, players control a bouncing green sphere on a mission to defeat the villainous Zark, who has drained the world of all colour. Gamers must blast bizarre enemies and collect vital power-ups. They are aided by a feline companion named Catellite, who gathers coloured droplets to bring vibrancy back to the monochrome environment.

This updated version is a fully decompiled and bug-fixed edition that reinstates content cut from the original 1987 release. It introduces balanced gameplay tweaks alongside modern quality-of-life features. The package is available for download in .z80, .tap, and .tzx file formats. Retro gamers can load the game using modern emulators or flash cartridges such as the DivMMC. For those of you with original speccy hardware can even record the files onto a traditional cassette tape to play the enhanced edition as if it was released all those years ago.

  1. Please, every single video I've seen of this shows people just going full speed bouncing around like a divvie and not being able to get anywhere. In this video they are going too fast at the start - take it easy with gentle taps and get 2 green pearls, activate them 1 at a time and you'll stop the bouncing. Once you've done that, get 3 green pearls, select the Cat, then get 2 more and get your shields. You HAVE to stop the bouncing at 1st or you'll get nowhere. It's pointless trying to do anything until you get that ball under complete control.
