Barbarian - A head chopping review on the ZX Spectrum

As it's Christmas, what better to celebrate the festivities by looking at a game where the main character looks like Jesus? Albeit with rather large sword in hand rather than that bread he made once. Not only is the Jesus reference valid, but also what better way to relate to Christmas than with a bit of violence? There's always a war film on at Christmas, a Bond film or failing that, there's always a bit of a scuffle with family members after one too many sherries. Or is that just my house?

Barbarian - ZX Spectrum head chopping classic gets a Sega Megadrive port

This has been one of the best weeks of the last few months for the retro scene so far, as we've had so many games to see either for systems such as the C64 or ZX Spectrum, we've just been blown away. Now it's just got even better as F.L has now announced the release of the 1987 ZX Spectrum head chopping classic 'Barbarian' for the Sega Megadrive! The same developer behind the open source clones of the Amstrad CPC, C64, ZX Spectrum, Atari ST and many others, has now released this version as a rom file which works on a real sega genesis/megadrive, everdrive, and emulators!

Ski Jumping &ED - Winter sports Simulator cracked for the C64

The date is 1987 and most of us remember the good old days of Ski Jumping, so here we are with Ski Jumping &ED, the latest cracked release by Antartica. Originally developed/published by Tronic Verlag GmbH/Compute mit, this was a great Ski-Jumping simulator with a very realistic presentation. According to the info page in game load up, the game uses over 60 sprites and two character sets as you try to make the jump and gain the highest score possible in landing. Be warned though, if you are as bad as me, you won't even make it off the ledge!

Shadowgate - Epic point and click adventure now available for pre-order!

Gamers and retro gamers alike you are in for a serious treat today as Shadowgate, which is the new re-imaging of an incredible adventure classic originally from 1987, is now available for pre-order. The developers Zojoi have claimed that Shadowgate is the granddaddy of all "point and click" fantasy adventure games and NES favourite, and to be honest I completely agree with them!
