Here's another banger of a news story especially if you were a fan of the Halo games, as thanks to a heads up by Earok, developer of the Scorpion Engine, he has announced a preview download of 'Halo Zero'. An unofficial fan port of a classic fan game, which in turn was inspired by the series created by Bungie. In light of this news which was a bit of a surprise considering that I'm slowly finishing this bottle of bubbly ;), provided below is some screenshots and a video soon from Saberman.
An unofficial and unfinished demo bonanza for the Amiga via Scorpion Engine
A rather interesting news story for you all, as looking through the EAB forums for some games to talk about, and we've found out through Earok, who created the Scorpion Engine, that he has made available a basket full of unofficial and unfinished demo projects for the Commodore Amiga. Although he does state while they can be downloaded, aren't really intended to be played! Well that hasn't stopped us, as here's the latest videos and further details from Earok below.
The Lost Vikings 2 Amiga - 1997 SNES game by Interplay could be coming to the Amiga (AGA)
Even more Amiga news for you all, as we've recently come across a post by Earok via Facebook, that the SNES version of the game 'The Lost Vikings 2' published by Interplay Productions, could be coming to the Commodore Amiga AGA using the Scorpion Engine. Although when I asked him if this was 100% certified he said, "Started experimenting with Lost Vikings 2 SNES assets with the view to port to AGA Amiga" and "I can't 100% verify, but the plan is to release something with it eventually (if not the whole game, at least the first few levels as a "demo")". So yes there's a chance it may never come to be, but there's still hope!
GothicVania - A rather impressive Castlevania inspired Tech Demo for the Amiga
Here on Indie Retro News we've certainly had our fair share of Castlevania fan games! We've had the more recent release of Maria Renard's Revenge and the in-dev Akumajou Dracula AGA for the Amiga. Well here we are with yet ANOTHER Amiga news story, as Saberman was kind enough to let us know earlier today, that he has done a new video of the rather lovely looking Castlevania inspired Demo of 'GothicVania'; A tech demo which has been created using Earok's excellent Scorpion Engine.
Rick Dangerous - A platforming classic as a remastered edition for the Amiga 1200/CD32!
If you remember playing the late 80's game of 'Rick Dangerous'; a very challenging platformer that made you feel like an Indiana Jones character traversing dangerous locations such as caves and temples while avoiding the bad guys and deadly boulders and spiked traps, then you might like this latest news story sent to us by Per Ola Eriksson. As he was kind enough to inform us earlier today, that the graphically overhauled version of Rick Dangerous by The Z-Team, has just been updated with a kick ass release for 2023!
Elf Spirit Hunters - A short Amiga/Windows Mini game from Earok!
Even though Christmas has come and gone (that was quick!), there's one game that might be worth a play and it's Earok's latest Amiga and Windows mini game of 'Self Spirit Hunters'. While the game wont win any awards for best game of 2023, it's still worth a play as it has inspirations to Ghostbusters and was created for the Toybox Jam 4. To coincide with this news, Saberman was kind enough to do a short gameplay video viewable below.
Monkey Lad - An Alex Kidd inspiration on the Commodore Amiga is still in development
In 1987 Sega released the great side-scrolling platform game ' Alex Kidd ' for the Sega Master System console. Although it was first released in Japan in 1986 but internationally in 1987, it was one of the most well known games as it was also built into most Master System II's! For anyone that has played the rather enjoyable original, will be pleased to know that not only can you try the latest demo for the work in progress Alex Kidd inspiration for the Amiga called 'Monkey Lad' by Earok. Yes indeed this Arcade game which also appeared on the C64, NES, Amstrad CPC, MSX, PlayStation 2, PlayStation, ZX Spectrum, Xbox, Sega Saturn and Windows, will be coming to an Amiga near you thanks to Earok and his fabulous Scorpion Engine!

Well if you remember this fine game (some people didn't like it) and have an Amiga 1200 or a CD32, Z-Team has announced an enhanced 32 color edition that's currently in development using Earok's Scorpion Engine!

Another early heads up and yet again a weekend news story as thanks to Earok who was kind enough to give me a shout out at 5.30am (bad Earok :p), he has told us Raptor Games has shown off a very early work in progress teaser video of ' Lost Asylum '; A high quality 50HZ run 'n gun game, that is being developed using the Scorpion Engine as a love letter to that classic 1994 game Ruff N Tumble for the Commodore Amiga.
Amigo The Fox - Another charming Amiga platformer in the works, and this one is from Earok!
Another great Amiga news announcement for you all during this weekend of retro gaming, as we've recently been contacted by Saberman through Facebook, that Earok has just released a brand new alpha update to his Commodore Amiga platformer called ' Amigo The Fox '. Yes indeed what started off as a Mario DOS port project, is now a platformer in which you play as a lovable fox, collecting diamonds, while also bouncing on enemies and jumping into blocks collecting power ups.
Star Force - An arcade port using Earok's Scorpion Engine is coming to the Amiga
The Amiga news just keeps on coming, as after already mentioning great games such as Super Cars 2 AGA, Dark Angel and Primal Blade, we now have another game to talk about called 'Star Force'. Yes indeed, this game which is a vertical-scrolling shooter released in 1984 by Tehkan or the other name as Mega Force by Video Ware. Will be coming to the Amiga as an Arcade port developed by acidbottle using Earok's excellent Scorpion Engine. Do be aware however this is the first announcement of the game, but you can view an early alpha/project gif below!

Another great heads up for you all, as thanks to Earok giving us the shoutout on Facebook and via the Scorpion Engine Facebook page, we've been told that Dante 3d dev@dantemendes has shown some brand new footage of his work in progress Amiga game of Primal Blade: An action platformer for the Commodore Amiga as you battle evil forces with sword in hand across a vast and dangerous landscape.

A very early Amiga heads up for you all, as thanks to Earok spreading the news on Facebook, we've been told that Dante 3d dev@dantemendes is working on a new action platformer for the Amiga, which is being developed using Earok's excellent Scorpion engine. Although details are very sparse at this stage, the developer has released some very early footage and hopes to add more game development information down the line.
