LumASCII - A rather unique shooter on the Speccy that's well worth checking out!

Although I'm not one for writing up about games that were released some time ago, but thanks to a heads up from Saberman, we've been told that if you want to play a rather unique ZX Spectrum that we haven't featured before, then you really should check out Bob's ASCII based Shoot 'em up of 'LumASCII' on the 48K ZX Spectrum; A very enjoyable and as the developer says is a rather unique one-of-a-kind game on the Spectrum that only uses ASCII characters throughout instead of pixel-based high-res graphics!

Cross Chase - Cross platform 8 bit chase-em-up gets a Beta release

Cross Chase (aka Ascii Chase) is the personal project of Fabrizio Caruso. His goal was to create a simple yet playable game that would run on a multitude of 8 bit computers (any which run 6502 and Z80 cpus). It's achieved by writing compatible cpu instructions in Ansii C, and cross-compiling using CC65 and Z88DK.  I've tried the C64 Beta version which he released on CSDB as Cross Chase
(Beta Version 2017) and it's incredibly fun!

AscDungeon - Antonio Marcelo's fabulous ASCII playable platformer

H.P. Lovecraft in Text mode - Final push for a unique horror Kickstarter campaign

Over these past few days we've been getting reports of a new Kickstarter that takes the influential writing from the famed horror writer H.P Lovecraft, while telling a story in dark and rather creepy PETSCII C64 ASCII artwork. And sure enough we got the heads up today from QUESTRON of their in final days Kickstarter, that aims to bring you a Hardcover book with a gold foil cover (210 x 285 mm), from two of his more obscure writings, “Dagon” and “Nyarlathotep” with PETSCII.

Proto Raider - A rather unique platformer gets a Steam Greenlight campaign

Puzzle Lab Games have just sent us word about their latest arcade platform game 'Proto Raider', that's currently going through a Steam Greenlight campaign. What the game lacks in high quality eye popping 2D/3D detail, turns it on it's head with unique ASCII art. A design usually fit for a roguelike has now been turned into a very fun but challenging platformer that the developer hopes for a Steam Greenlight success.

SanctuaryRPG - Roguelike Dungeon Crawling at it's best! Now for Steam Greenlight

Black Shell Games have announced that their Roguelike Dungeon Crawler, SanctuaryRPG, is now available for votes on Steam Greenlight. I can safely say for certain, that this one will be a success! It's one of the finest Roguelikes for some time and if Dragon Age was ASCII  this would be it. With over 10,000hrs of development time, featuring dynamic combat, hilarious dialogue and plenty of weapons this is a worthy game to be voted for. But you'll also be pleased to know that SanctuaryRPG is free and available to play right now.
