For the last 10 years or more, I have tried to feature as many different systems as possible, ranging from the Amstrad CPC, all the way to the Sega Mega Drive. Well for todays news announcement we are looking towards the ORIC for our retro gaming fix. As Defence Force has contacted us about his new game that's soon to be released this December via Itch and Steam, called ' Encounter HD'. An upgraded and enhanced version of the 1983 text adventure game originally released by Severn Software. To coincide with this news, we've got some more info and footage about the game below.
Lode Runner - Another classic that is also coming to the Oric via Team Raxiss!
One game I remember so fondly, was the 1980's classic Lode Runner. It was a game I used to play on a original monochrome Macintosh for many hours in a darkened room away from the outside world. It was actually published by Brøderbund in 1983 and appeared on so many systems, it would be easy enough even now to find a copy on a choice of computer. Thankfully if you have an Oric however, and wanted to play this fine game, you'll be pleased to know Team Raxiss is working on a port just for you!
JetPac - An all time classic game from the 1980's is coming to the Oric
In 1983 Ultimate Play The Game released the famous game Jetpac for the ZX Spectrum and Vic-20, with the BBC Micro version released later in 1984. It star'd the legendary character Jetman, on a mission to rebuild a rocket in order to explore other planets while also defending himself from Aliens with his powerful laser. It was and still is an incredible game that has since mentioned again, but this time as an upcoming port to the Oric thanks to Team Raxiss.
Rodman Special Edition - It's kinda like Pac-Man but it blows things up!
If you're not into those festive games but still want to buy a damn fine game for Christmas then look no further than Misfit's ' Rodman ', a super duper Pac-Man style game with some very cool yet unique differences. This game released in multi-format for the VIC-20,C64,C16,ZX Spectrum,Atari 8bit,Oric,MSX and Amstrad. Puts you in control of Rodman who must collect all the dots in each of the many maze levels while avoiding enemies such as Naughty Nic and Dirty Tim!
Blake’s 7 - Point & click adventure takes priority on the Oric!
The Oric has received a lovely gaming gift this month as an adventure game has appeared that isn't just inspired by a famous TV show but is also inspired by such great games as Maniac Mansion and even The Secret of Monkey Island. This game which is called ' Blake's 7 ' is a new point and click adventure that is based on a 1978 TV show of the same name, and puts you in the role of RoJ Blake, a content citizen living in one of the many doomed cities in Planet Earth, under the Terran Federation Government.
Cross Chase - Cross platform 8 bit chase-em-up gets a Beta release
Cross Chase (aka Ascii Chase) is the personal project of Fabrizio Caruso. His goal was to create a simple yet playable game that would run on a multitude of 8 bit computers (any which run 6502 and Z80 cpus). It's achieved by writing compatible cpu instructions in Ansii C, and cross-compiling using CC65 and Z88DK. I've tried the C64 Beta version which he released on CSDB as Cross Chase
(Beta Version 2017) and it's incredibly fun!
