Donkey Kong + (X2016 Version) - Jumpman is back on the C64!

C64 owners are now even more spoilt for choice when it comes to their favourite home computer port of the arcade classic Donkey Kong.  As another faithful conversion has landed, and within one day, cracked and trained by the speedy crackers at Genesis Project.  Fans of the game will not be disappointed, as it's as close to the arcade original as we've seen on the platform.

Everyone loves a game of classic Donkey Kong, and the official C64 versions deserve credit for recreating the arcade masterpiece faithfully, albeit with some minor quirks, and in the case of the Atarisoft version, a bit sluggish gameplay.  These niggles were obviously too much for Oxyron, who decided to remake Donkey Kong from scratch, and they've ironed out the bugs, incorrect Paulina shouts for help, and ultimately delivered a near perfect arcade conversion.  All the levels and cut-scenes are in place.  The score is no longer squashed up the top to try to copy the arcade game, instead the space created to the side by the narrow gameplay area has been used, so you can see your current score as well as the high score.

Here you can see side by side, the differences to the arcade original (bottom right), this version (top left) and the previous two C64 ports: the Atarisoft version (top right) and the later Ocean version (bottom left).  So get jumping, and climbing, Jumpman is back, and better than ever!
