Classic Kong - An Iconic arcade game now reimagined for the Atari Jaguar

In a exciting development for retro gaming enthusiasts, developer swapd0 who recently released the Atari Jaguar game called BurgerTom, has now unofficially released Classic Kong for the Atari Jaguar. This new homebrew project brings a faithful reimagining of the legendary Donkey Kong arcade experience to Atari’s 64-bit powerhouse, offering a polished way to experience a piece of gaming history on original hardware.

Donkey Kong - A famous 80's game as an Arcade to Commodore Amiga conversion by JOTD! [UPDATE]

As we said before, it was only just the other week that we informed you that JOTD, who is also behind the brilliant Arcade conversions of Galaxian and Super Xevious 1200 for the Amiga, was going to be doing another conversion/port of the classic 80's game of 'Donkey Kong'. Well thanks to a heads up from one of our readers in the comments section, we've been told that JOTD has finally released the eagerly awaited Donkey Kong 500. A transcode of Donkey Kong arcade version for the Amiga which you can see in the latest video below.

Donkey Kong - A famous 80's game has just got a rather awesome Arcade to ZX Spectrum AY conversion [UPDATE]

In the early 80's Nintendo released one of the most famous games of all time, and that game was ' Donkey Kong '. A game in which you played as Mario that had to avoid obstacles across a number of platforms, with sometimes a hammer in hand to save a damsel in distress from a giant barrel throwing ape called Donkey Kong. That same game which also appeared as a more recent Arcade to Amiga conversion by JOTD, has just arrived as a pretty incredible Arcade clone to the ZX Spectrum by Artonapilos.

Donkey Kong Arcade Edition - The definite Speccy mod of Donkey Kong for the ZX Spectrum

Way back in 2016 we mentioned Darryl1970's Atari 8-bit Arcade hack of Nintendo's 1981 original classic ' Donkey Kong ', in which you played as Mario that must avoid obstacles across a number of platforms, with sometimes a hammer in hand to save a damsel in distress from a giant ape called Donkey Kong. Well there's good news today as through many months of writing and thanks to a heads up by our good friend John Shawler. We can finally announce Darryl1970 in conjunction with Playsoft, has released the final version of the hack which brings it much closer to the Arcade original!

Handheld Brick Racer is coming to the ZX Spectrum!


As many of you are aware by now going by our write up today, the Internet Archive has added many new handheld games to their playable line up going right back to the early 80's such as Donkey Kong, Pac-Man and even Q*Bert! Well it looks as if another handheld has made an appearance as Dave Clarke has contacted us regarding his in development Brick Racer for the ZX Spectrum!

That same game which many of us still enjoy to this day, appearing as a port on a number of systems has finally appeared as an overhauled Atari 8-bit version by darryl1970, with a number of tweaks and enhancements.

Get'em Gary - Arcade fun as game inspired by Fix-it Felix Jr gets a release


A delightful update for such a late hour as the wicked Arcade platformer known as ' Get'em Gary', was not only released for PC and NES but is also going through a Steam Greenlight campaign. Influenced by Donkey Kong, Wrecking Crew and Fix-it Felix Jr, Get'em Gary puts you in control of Gary who is on the job to repair the damage in Westspring Manor caused by a neighbourhood ruffian known as Rusty. So it's down to you repair the windows and close the shutters before the time runs out.

Donkey Kong + (X2016 Version) - Jumpman is back on the C64!


C64 owners are now even more spoilt for choice when it comes to their favourite home computer port of the arcade classic Donkey Kong.  As another faithful conversion has landed, and within one day, cracked and trained by the speedy crackers at Genesis Project.  Fans of the game will not be disappointed, as it's as close to the arcade original as we've seen on the platform.

Donkey Kong Jr - Arcade port release for the ZX Spectrum by Gabriele Amore


Finally after many months of waiting a playable version of the arcade port of Donkey Kong Jr, has been released by Gabriele Amore for the ZX Spectrum! Originally released in 1982 for Arcades and later released for home systems such as the Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Atari 8-bit with a C64 overhauled version by Mr Sid and an Atari 8-bit Arcade HACK released earlier this year. Has been in development for some time for the ZX and features many enemies on screen, lovely ZX Speccy art and is free to play today!

Donkey Kong - Atari 8-bit Arcade HACK & Atari 5200 conversion updated!


Not long ago we mentioned Darryl1970's Atari 8-bit Arcade hack and Atari 5200 conversion of Nintendo's 1981 original classic ' Donkey Kong ', in which you played as Mario that must avoid obstacles across a number of platforms, with sometimes a hammer in hand to save a damsel in distress from a giant ape called Donkey Kong. Both versions were tweaked and enhanced including colour changes of the original classic. But just last month Darryl released the latest 7.4 version with even more improvements.

Donkey Kong Jr - Another Arcade release is coming and it's for the ZX Spectrum


We've just had a great piece of news come into our inbox from Asger Bonnevie, as he has shared with us a video link of the in development arcade port of Donkey Kong Jr, which is coming to the ZX Spectrum. Originally released in 1982 for Arcades and later released for home systems such as the Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Atari 8-bit , ColecoVision, Coleco Adam, Intellivision, NES and BBC Micro, with a C64 overhauled version released by Mr Sid and Atari 8-bit Arcade HACK released just recently. This latest ZX Spectrum port is being developed by Gabriele Amore and will have lots of enemies on screen, lots of colour and hopefully still be enjoyable to play.

Construct 2 Coin-op Jam - Create an arcade game in 6 days!


If the #adventurejam wasn't to your liking, especially if you prefer Platformers or Shoot em ups, then how about the Construct 2 Coin-op Jam (#construct2coinop), which ends in 6 days from this posting. If you remember Arcade games such as Donkey Kong or Pacman, then this is the jam for you! Using Construct 2, you must create a game that should hopefully hold the quality of an old school coin-op game such as those classics we fondly remember.

Leilani's Island - Mario, Wario Land, and Donkey Kong mash up


Described as a Mario, Wario Land, and Donkey Kong mix, Leilani's Island is the latest work in progress game by Ishi, built on the Pixie Engine framework. What looks to be an arcade platforming game with retro inspirations, plays out like a classic but adds that little bit extra with rolling, running, jumping, kicking and the ability to smash things to protect her island!

Donkey Downfall - Arcade homebrew for Amiga!


Released early this summer, Donkey Downfall by Michael Gibs is an Arcade homebrew for the Amiga that's fun for all the family. Based on the cool character Donkey Kong, is a simple yet enjoyable platformer where you must move from platform to platform as they scroll up without missing and falling to your doom. Moving from each platform must be timed right as the difficulty ramps up as you further progress in the game... Oh and you can get squashed at the top as well.
