Fix it Felix Jr - A Commodore 64 hit from 2020 gets a very special update!

I still remember how good Wreck it Ralph was, a cartoon which follows the journey of a villain from an old 1980’s arcade game that at the time in reality never actually existed. Well not until a real online, a mobile based game, a homebrew Sega Genesis emulated version, a Commodore Amiga and C64 version came about anyway! Well it's the C64 version that is getting a mention today, as we have just found out that the 2020 hit game by Antonio Savona, Ste86, and Saul Cross has been updated with a very special 1.1 release!

Wreck It Ralph tie in game: The C64 version of Fix It Felix Jr. has been released today, you can download the game right now Itch.io for free or name your own price, with all the money raised going to Unicef. Fix It Felix Jr. is a single screen platformer, where you must help the residents of Niceland Appartment which is being wrecked by Wreck It Ralph, who is on the rampage after being moved to the dump to make way for a new block of flats.

I'm sure many of you by now have seen Disney Animation’s Wreck It Ralph; a cartoon which follows the journey of a villain from an old 1980’s arcade game that at the time in reality never actually existed. Well you may or may not know, that not only did it actually spawn a real online and mobile based game called 'Fix-It Felix, Jr.' which played just like a Donkey Kong clone from 1982. But it also spawned a homebrew Sega Genesis emulator version, that had been ported by enthusiast programmer Future Driver for the Genesis/Mega Drive consoles.

Wreck It Ralph: The Geekiest Retro Gaming Film Ever?

When I saw Wreck It Ralph advertised, I was impressed by the concept of retro games characters coming to life, but concerned that the end result would be patronising, if not insulting, to fans. My fears were put to rest when I saw the film. It is, quite honestly, an absolute geeky joy to watch.
