SNAKE ESCAPE - A very unique take on a classic for the ZX Spectrum

Good morning retro gamers around the world, if you have a ZX Spectrum you are in for a real treat, as Einar Saukas has released a game based on LIME RICK and a rather unique take on that classic game 'Snake'. Titled as ' SNAKE ESCAPE ' and developed using the NIRVANA+ Engine so it will work on all ZX Spectrums and the ZX Vega, you play as this very large and happy snake that uses platforms and his own tail to reach the giant apple. Just make sure to think ahead or you will end up stuck under your own weight.

I don't think I've ever said this before but SNAKE ESCAPE is a genius idea for a game especially a ZX Spectrum one. Instead of in the top down original requiring you to eat pellets and avoid an ever growing tail for a high score, in this one you need to use your tail to your advantage. Regarded as a puzzle platformer, in SNAKE ESCAPE you must slither across each platform and curl yourself back to rise to extra heights to finally reach that apple. It's a little difficult to explain, but in the game itself it's very easy to control although it does require a lot of thought as one wrong move and you could end up stuck under yourself.

So what do I think of it overall? It really is a great ZX Spectrum game, and with the talents behind it such as the graphics artist BiNMaN, and an awesome soundtrack by MmcM (128K), you'll want to come back to it again and again, even more so for that music. For a game that reminds me of an original classic and based on a webgame called LIME RICK with lots of challenging levels, I think you'll agree with me, it is a fine game indeed and a keeper.
