Enemy Mind - Recommended shoot em up, early access Impressions + early preview gameplay footage!

I'm not one for doing previews or even reviews for that matter, but I had to come out of my little journalist cave to talk about a shoot em up called Enemy Mind, by Schell Games! My first thoughts are, that even at this early stage it's very good and the developers are on to a winner. You start off in what seems to be a hulk of a ship that has no weaponry and is barely able to withstand a few shots, but that's the opening to this preview. Out comes a tiny ship, a being of pure psychic energy with the uncanny power to take over and control anything you see ahead of you. No longer are the constraints of other shoot em ups with just the same type of ship over and over again, but the ability to take over other enemy vessels. It's incredibly addictive!

Zipping from one ship to the next, with excitement over which is the better ship to use, do you use the ship with fast speed or the powerful gun packing sloth ahead? That's your choice, with a touch of button a beam forces forward and that ship is yours. There are limitations to these ships, some have more ammo, some have more armor but again, the choice of which ship to take over is down to you. The developers mention the fact that this game will contain 20+ different ships, through 8 levels and 70 waves of challenges, more than enough as far as I'm concerned!

Enemy Mind doesn't just have great game play for the player to enjoy, but an added story and high quality graphics that really suit the style of game. It's an 8bit art style and what better way to improve upon the 8bit with a top quality chip emulated soundtrack from Rainbow Kitten.  I'll not yap on any more but check out the early teaser game play video from my 20 min play through, a game worthy of your time and a massive thanks to Schell Games for the chance to play this fine game. Steam Early Access on March 28, 2014!

I wasn't the only one that felt this game appealed as it was a Steam Greenlight success
