Aaron White's latest Ausretrogamer's Ultimate C64 Chiptunes album! (Amiga)

Although we are currently waiting for a fantastic album to come from Aaron White, he's still been putting his talent to good use by releasing the latest 'Ausretrogamer's Ultimate C64 Chiptunes album' as a special to Ausretrogamer. Once again a complete conversion from the C64 to the Amiga, this one has such well known tunes as Turbo Outrun, Ocean Loader, Comic Bakery, Giana Sisters, Paperboy, Zamzara and the Operation Wolf Title. What's more this album also features a very good design screen and in mention to Ausretrogamer's Podcast of ' Press Play on Tape'. A worthy chip tune album indeed, but what's to come next from Aaron White will be a very special treat indeed!

Pizza Express - 16-bit style pizzeria manager starts Greenlight campaign

Ever since there have been home computers, there have been resource management games. My own first memory of them would have been Lemonade Stand and Tapper on the Apple II. Then of course sports management games, when it's much easier to simulate the statistics of sports rather than the game itself. Even now, the vast game playing majority is utterly addicted to the likes of Clash of Clans and Hay Day. So there must be something in this genre that keeps us coming back (I'm quite partial to Game Dev Story and Cookie Clicker myself...) It's getting to the point where as well as simulations of anything and everything (goat sim for example) you can also manage anything and everything, and Pizza Express is proving that the restaurant management sim is far from dead.

Enemy Mind - Recommended shoot em up, early access Impressions + early preview gameplay footage!

I'm not one for doing previews or even reviews for that matter, but I had to come out of my little journalist cave to talk about a shoot em up called Enemy Mind, by Schell Games! My first thoughts are, that even at this early stage it's very good and the developers are on to a winner. You start off in what seems to be a hulk of a ship that has no weaponry and is barely able to withstand a few shots, but that's the opening to this preview. Out comes a tiny ship, a being of pure psychic energy with the uncanny power to take over and control anything you see ahead of you. No longer are the constraints of other shoot em ups with just the same type of ship over and over again, but the ability to take over other enemy vessels. It's incredibly addictive!

Zipping from one ship to the next, with excitement over which is the better ship to use, do you use the ship with fast speed or the powerful gun packing sloth ahead? That's your choice, with a touch of button a beam forces forward and that ship is yours. There are limitations to these ships, some have more ammo, some have more armor but again, the choice of which ship to take over is down to you. The developers mention the fact that this game will contain 20+ different ships, through 8 levels and 70 waves of challenges, more than enough as far as I'm concerned!

Enemy Mind doesn't just have great game play for the player to enjoy, but an added story and high quality graphics that really suit the style of game. It's an 8bit art style and what better way to improve upon the 8bit with a top quality chip emulated soundtrack from Rainbow Kitten.  I'll not yap on any more but check out the early teaser game play video from my 20 min play through, a game worthy of your time and a massive thanks to Schell Games for the chance to play this fine game. Steam Early Access on March 28, 2014!

Enemy Mind - A Shoot em up with the power to control other ships!

Every so often on Indie Retro News I get a game to write about that gives me that tingly feeling and here it is, it's Enemy Mind. But why does this game impress over all the other games we get, well for one it's a shoot em up and I love shoot em ups. But to you that might not be as important. Well ok then, how about the fact that in this game, you can actually control other ships in mid combat, Impressive.... I can't remember any game with that ability. Thanks to the developer Schell Games you'll be able to battle through over 70 waves of enemies, deftly maneuver over twenty unique ships, each with different abilities for you to harness, while listening to an all new chip-emulated soundtrack by the psychoacoustic artist Rainbow Kitten. Are you ready to unlock the secrets of Enemy Mind or are you here just to admire the classic 8-bit art-style? - Steam Early Access on March 28, 2014!
