Battle Princess Madelyn - A lady version of Ghouls ‘n Ghosts? This could be it!

In 1988 Capcom released one of the finest Arcade games ever to grace the gaming scene, and that game was the incredible Ghouls 'n Ghosts, which appeared on pretty much every system you could think of. It is a game that if you haven't played it, you are seriously missing out! So as an inspiration to GNG, the developer Casual bit Games is now developing a Ghouls 'n Ghost game called ' Battle Princess Madelyn ' that aims to have the brilliance of that classic, but with great pixel art, a beautiful movie quality sound track and much much more!

It's funny to think that this game came about due to the developer's daughter asking to be in Ghouls 'n Ghosts and wanting to fight Green Head. And what great father could possibly turn down that request as sure enough on his daughters 5th Birthday, she got her wish as a Pink knight starring in her very own game packed with different enemies, bosses, special abilities, weapons and levels all in that Ghouls 'n Ghosts style we have loved for all these years!

That being said, according to the developer the prototype is pretty much the full 3 stage playable training tutorial and the full 3 stage first level of the game! The player graphics are 90% finished. Depending on the story, he'll aim for 7-8 Levels of game play each with 3 stages.  Tons of cut scenes! And for the hard core GNG fans there will be a “Loki” Mode where you can (like in the original GNG) get sent back to the start of the game to replay it again to get a different ending. But the twist here is that you have to play as Daddy (who’s graphics are about 90% completed as well) with a slightly altered version of the stages as you can only use Daddy’s cursed sword (Insanity’s Blade)!

So when is the game due and for what platform? Well so far we don't have a firm release date, but the developer has mentioned it's being developed using Unity, so a PC then perhaps a console release is looking likely. But from everything we've seen so far, this could be a real contender to Ghouls 'n Ghosts!  - Thanks IndieGames for the heads up!
