Gigantoraptor Games has informed us that their comedic sci-fi adventure game The Final Specimen: Arrival, which was created in the style of the classic 2D platformers of the '90s, is available to buy on Steam for PC. In this game you play as an earthling hero, transported to a distant planet, which soon ends up as a mission to prevent the annihilation of the planet itself- and the subsequent conquest of earth by a nefarious alien mastermind.
When I first saw this game, it wasn't the listed features such as whimsical settings, eccentric characters, the ability to punch or shoot your enemies that pulled me in, nor was it the windows paint style graphics. But The Final Specimen Arrival actually comes across as one of the funniest games I've seen this year by far. I mean heck, if you watch the trailer, it looks like the beginning of a Monty Python sketch mixed up with a platformer. So yes it might not be the best looking platformer of 2017 but damn does it look a ton of fun to play!
