ZX Spectrum version released 28th Feb
While I was having a nice break this weekend I came back to some super duper news, as we were contacted by Eric Majikeyric that Digital Monastery will be bringing the ZX Spectrum homebrew game of ' Aliens: Neoplasma ' over to the C64. This game originally released in Feb on the speccy by Sanchez Crew, will now be coded by Majikeyric, graphics by ER and music by Mibri, with a top quality release most likely due this year.
When Sanchez Crew first announced their ZX Spectrum version, they said there were MIA projects on the Spectrum with the Alien name and as a fan of this cinema universe, they decided to take part in the ZX-DEV competition showing their own fantasy of what could be a game for this setting. This C64 version however takes that ZX Spectrum version, and gives us a C64 overhaul with all the creepyness, danger, and Alien action intact!

Is Aliens Neoplasma C64 project still alive?
ReplyDeleteYeah, project is supposedly nearing completion. However, I don't understand why game requires an accelerator, which the author justifies by extensive use of hires sprites instead of hw sprites. There aren't that many sprites, and if he had made big aliens, for which sprites were not enough, with a combination of sw hires/hw sprites, C64 would have handled it just fine. It's not Metal Dust, so there are no extreme effects. Only a few people will play the game on a real machine like this, which is a shame for this game.
