A Street Fighter project by msmalik681 gets another Amiga teased [UPDATE]

The Scorpion Engine is one of the best development tools for the Amiga, as not only can you create some pretty decent looking games, but unlike other software creation tools such as BackBone they don't run at a snails pace on anything but a power house of an Amiga. Thankfully one such creator shows what could be possible, is msmalik681's upcoming Street Fighter. A game which originally appeared on the Arcades, and was then ported to pretty much every system you could think of, including such systems as the Amiga (poorly), Atari St and even the ZX Spectrum.

Original ( Yes it's that slow )

New Version

Here's what the creator says about the game and the latest previewed update. "So I really hated the conversion of Street Fighter on the Amiga. I think the original could have been much better even the C64 version had the special moves. I can not emphasize enough how bad the original was on the Amiga just play it and see. I am attempting to remake Street Fighter 1 for Amiga ECS! This maybe the final preview and hope to be finished soon. Sorry about the poor audio".

[UPDATE] While there has been very little updates before now, the developer has today shown off a new video with the following being said "I am targeting ocs with 512kb chip ram and 1mb fast/slow ram. This may change but hopefully not. 2 player is working now just bug testing, setting up a options menu to choose arcade or 2 player, some graphical fixes on ken then its ready for release."

And that's all there is to say so far, but I can't wait for the final...

  2. This looks brilliant! The original port was truly awful when it released, I remember screen shots looked great, but it was all a lie. This new version looks much more like it. The large sprites look great!

  5. Well, what a delight to see this terrific piece of work! How well I remember my first sight of the original Amiga version of Street Fighter! It was the worst-looking game I had seen on any computer ever - mainly due to the appalling frame rate (somewhere between four and eight frames per second, I'd say!). Side-note: no professional publisher would have released a game in that state..... No publisher except US Gold, that is - no game was too shoddy for them to release and charge full price for it....

Needless to say, if THIS new version had been released back then, I would have been blown away. It is superb! Bravo to the programmer! And bravo, once again, to the Scorpion Engine!
