Invanoid - An Arkanoid and Space Invaders mix for the Commodore Amiga by DjPiotrs

What do you get if you mix the 1986 Arcade game of 'Arkanoid' and the 1987 game of 'Space Invaders'? Probably this latest game from djpiotrs called 'Invanoid'; a brand new Amiga game in which playing as a bat like device scrolling from side to side at the bottom of the screen, you must bounce an orb back and forth while destroying waves of enemy ships that slowly traverse towards you. To coincide with this news Saberman has done a video of the game which can be viewed below.

Here's what the website says about the game. "Invanoid is an experimental retro game that combines classic Space Invaders and Breakout mechanics into one intense arcade battle. The player controls a paddle at the bottom of the screen, deflecting projectiles and destroying ranks of enemies who are constantly descending. The game boasts a unique atmosphere: neon colors, screen flickering reminiscent of an old CRT monitor, and effects inspired by the Amiga demoscene give it an underground feel. Every pixel matters, and every cycle is a memory of energy—Invanoid is not only entertainment but also a philosophical experiment in game form."

Game Features:

  • A combination of classic arcade mechanics in a new form.
  • Challenging but fair gameplay—success depends solely on the player's reflexes.
  • A visual style inspired by the Amiga and demoscene: copper bars, scanlines, neon colors.
  • Created in AMOS Pro, using effects such as palette cycling and glitch. Invanoid is a game that plays with limitations and shows how a simple mechanism can become more than just entertainment. It's a manifesto of retro creativity, where every pixel is part of a larger story.
  • Minimum requirements: A1200 to play comfortably Amiga with turbo card, or any emulator
