Amstrad CPC fans have a new reason to dust off their classic hardware as a fresh beat ’em up, Renegade Reborn, prepares to hit the scene. This upcoming title aims to recapture the grit of the 80s arcade original while introducing modern refinements for the retro community. The developer has made a deliberate technical choice to run the game at 25 Hz. This decision prioritizes fluid movements and actions, ensuring the fast-paced gameplay remains responsive and effective—a crucial element for any high-stakes brawler.
Players can expect a substantial challenge across 6 distinct levels. Each stage is punctuated by a formidable boss, requiring players to master their combat skills to progress. The project is a balancing act between nostalgia and innovation. The creator has strived to remain as faithful as possible to the spirit of the original game but has also infused the title with a personal touch. This includes a graphic style that maintains continuity with the developer's previous successful projects, which were well-received by the community.
Release Date: Not yet announced; the developer states it will arrive "in due time" as they continue to incorporate new ideas.
Planned Formats:
64 KB version on Dandanator cartridge.
128 KB version in DSK format.

Loved the NES and SMS versions and have played a few computer versions. The Kunio games are still great to this day
ReplyDeleteIt's fantastic to see so many sprites on the Amstrad, it looks like it moves really well. Well done to the team!
ReplyDeleteGreat ! Next step recommended: Billy and Jimmy as guest/secret characters
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteNot keen on this for some reason. The original was fantastic and this seems like a worse version.
ReplyDeleteI'm pleasantly surprised; for a sequel to Renegade, the spirit of the theme really comes through, and it feels even smoother than the version I remember. I can't wait for its release!
