Well this is glorious news and a first for us, as Chucky Egg has made a high-tech leap to the SymbOS operating system, demonstrating a massive leap forward for retro-computing software development. This brand-new release marks a modern conversion of the legendary 1980s platforming classic, which was originally designed by industry icon Nigel Alderton. According to Xenomorph who provided the video below, "this is the first SymbOS game to utilize the new GUI-based sprite engine. Together with a complete level editor, this engine is part of the new Quigs IDE, which will be released shortly."
The project stands out as the very first game on the platform to utilize a newly engineered, graphical user interface (GUI) based sprite engine. Built to maximize efficiency, this engine empowers developers to animate an array of moving characters at high speeds, handling smooth rendering directly inside a standard window of the desktop-style SymbOS environment, such as for the Amstrad CPC above. This breakthrough framework is tied directly to the upcoming Quigs IDE, a highly integrated development platform scheduled for public release in the near future. Alongside the game itself, creators will also gain access to a fully realized, integrated level editor packed directly into the software suite.
