The Commodore 64 library continues to grow with the release of HipoFruta, a vibrant and addictive new platformer developed by Bonnette2020 that will soon be available as a digital download. In this latest retro adventure, players take control of a cheerful hippopotamus on a mission through the jungle. The goal is simple but challenging: devour as many pieces of juicy fruit as possible while navigating 20 levels of platforming action. From pulling levers to unlock secret doors to hunting down extra life hearts, our grape-loving hero has his work cut out for him.
Players must dodge a variety of threats, including lurking spiders, dangerous bats, and "pesky fruit guards" determined to stop your snack run. Those who survive the trek will eventually come face-to-face with the game’s ultimate challenge: a showdown with the Great Lemon boss. HipoFruta was built using the AGPX GameMaker engine. The project saw developer Adrián team up once again with Esteban Trujillo, who provided the game's upbeat soundtrack, and programmer Dirk Roosen. This creative trio previously collaborated on the title El Cartero.
- K&A plus will soon release the physical version on cassettes and then the full digital version will be uploaded.
