The homebrew wave continues to deliver through itch io as a brand-new adaptation of Sega’s classic 1979 arcade game Head-On has appeared on the Sinclair ZX Spectrum by Indigobeetle. This latest release faithfully recreates the frantic, high-stakes driving mechanics of the legendary vintage coin-op title, providing Speccy players with an authentic slice of pre-Pac-Man arcade history right on their classic home speccy. To coincide with this news Saberman has done a video of the game below.
In Head-On, players are thrown onto a multi-lane Pac-Man style racing circuit with a simple but highly addictive objective: race around the track to collect every single dot scattered across the asphalt. The catch? Computer-controlled enemy cars are barreling down the track in the exact opposite direction, absolutely hell-bent on colliding with you head-on. Survival depends entirely on quick reflexes and strategic lane-switching. Players must carefully scan the maze-like circuit ahead and utilize gaps in the barriers to change lanes, dodging the oncoming car at the very last second.

This is a very addictive arcade game despite the simple graphics (original was simple visually also). It really keeps you on your toes.
ReplyDeletelooks like an addictive game loop. I noticed the car getting stuck on lane changes, that needs to be fixed, but other than that, it seems highly playable!
