Slipstream - Rapid retro inspired racer is now available on Steam

Some time back we mentioned the Steam Greenlight success of ' Slipstream '; a game developed by Ansdor as an arcade racer inspired by the visuals, music, games and cars from the 80's and 90's. Well fast forward to this week and that same game is finally available on Steam as a game built on a custom engine with an authentic retro feel and unique graphics!

Move over Amiga as it is now time for the C16 and C64 to shine, as Hedning GP has informed me about the latest release from Genesis Project and Triad, that supports both SuperCPU and Turbo Chameleon for smoother and more enjoyable gameplay, ' Slipstream + 2 ' developed by Bauknecht! In this game you pilot a special ship known as the Slipstream, that is on a mission to fly into deep space and into a number of Robots to destroy them before their attention is to attack the outer worlds.

We recently mentioned the Steam Greenlight success of ' Slipstream ' developed by Noctet Studio,  an arcade racing game inspired by the visuals, music, games and cars from the 80's and 90's with 4 game modes, 30 different tracks, 4 playable cars and 8 original cars. Well that same game, which is still needs to gain a good amount of Kickstarter pledges to be a success, has recently been updated with a new demo to whet your appetite.

This is ' Slipstream ' developed by Noctet Studio,  an arcade racing game inspired by the visuals, music, games and cars from some of the greatest racers we've come to know growing up, all built in a custom game engine!

Going through our list of Steam Greenlight campaigns and games of interest, we are happy to announce that 'Slipstream' by Ansdors is not only a Steam Greenlight success, but the developers have also made available a PC and Mac/Linux demo. Although we did a big feature on the game earlier this year (Link) Slipstream has the atmosphere of 80’s and 90’s games like OutRun, Daytona USA and Super Hang-On while featuring Pseudo3D rendering as an arcade-style checkpoint racing game across 15 different tracks!

Throughout this year there has been a surge in retro inspired racers that either look like Lotus or the other classic arcade title of Outrun. Games such as Horizon Chase and Red Hot Overdrive certainly come to mind. Today's feature of 'Slipstream' by ansdor, stood out in a crowd of Steam Greenlight games, as not only does it have those colourful visuals of our retro past such as the atmosphere of 80’s and 90’s games like OutRun, Daytona USA, Super Hang-On and Sonic the Hedgehog but it also has a retrotastic soundtrack to boot!
