Red Hot Overdrive - Impressive free racer with a hint of nostalgia

I'm not usually one for writing articles at midnight, but when I checked out Red Hot Overdrive by AprilSkies I knew my readers would be in for a treat. For those of you who remember games such as Outrun or Lotus on the Amiga, this is one of those games. A third person racing experience that takes us back to the gaming 90's with cool weather effects, great music and the thrill of the speed.

Not only is it an incredibly nice looking free game but it was developed using Adventure Game Studio, which really was only meant for point and click adventure games such as Monkey Island. And yet Red Hot Overdrive has plenty to offer, from 5 different sceneries, 5 difficulty levels, ever changing random tracks, to gas station refuelling all in that Amiga Vibe.

Further Features :

Car Stereo with 4 different tracks to play
(Stunning tracks by Yarcanox, Dualnames, FSi and Peder)
Spacebar to honk at other cars
Totally NOT playable with mouse
Customizable controls
Cows (please don't crash on them)
Snowmen (please crash on them)
Green German Cars (Courtesy of selmiak)
The amazing soundtrack of the game, by Yarcanox, Dualnames, FSi ad Peder, can be downloaded here and Jim Reed made the stunning GFX and helped designed the game.
But how do you get hold of this game? Easy, just head on over to the download page and have a nostalgic rush of fast paced racing!
