Another great bit of news today as OpenXcom, which is the new open source version of X-Com originally released by Microprose in 1994 has now hit the big 1.0 version release. Replay one of the best strategy games ever made as you take control of an organisation in a task to defend the Earth from an invading alien force. Build bases, research new tech, arm your team and stop the alien menace in a top down turn based strategy game that has lasted the test of time.
This is a top quality open source version of X-Com and comes highly recommended but you will need the original X-Com to play as the developers state :
The goal of the project is to bring back the tried and true feel of the original with none of the issues. All the same graphics, sound and gameplay with a brand new codebase written from scratch. The code is completely new and none of the copyrighted files are actually included with the project, players still need their own copy of X-COM to play, so it should be fine.Download
