Espitene - Sonic inspired game teased on the NES

In the early 90's I had the pleasure of playing the mind blowing platformer Sonic the Hedgehog on both the Sega Megadrive and Sega Master System. A game by Sega which featured a ring collecting blue hedgehog that could spin, run, jump and roll about at the fastest of speeds in a battle against the main antagonist Doctor Eggman, plus a number of other menacing enemies throughout each level. Now I'm sure many of you remember playing this fantastic game and probably still playing it to this day, but what you probably didn't know that as of this year, na_th_an has released an early Sonic inspired game to the NES as Espitene!

According to the creator, he has been busy last year giving shape to his modular engine, AGNES, which allowed him to create this game, that tries to replicate most of the gameplay of the original Sonic for the Master system (bar the scroll ) using standard features of the AGNES engine as a showcase of what v1.0 can do. He also goes on to say apart from the akward control system which can be managed after time, Epistene features 12 normal stages and 6 boss stages, with further testing and fixing down the line.

And that's pretty much all there is to say about the game, but for those of  you who don't know who  Espitene was, he was a fictional large pink hedgehog as the main character of Barrio Sésamo, the Spanish version of Sesame Street. Espinete appeared on the show from 1983 to 1987. (link)
