While the main admin is currently on a week's break, I'll be your new C64 writer for the time being and hopefully into the future. So to begin with, this is one of the previous releases from last week that everyone should play at least once! Musical management simulators tend to be a neglected genre in video gaming. On 16th April "Hokotu Force" released this 1988 Codemasters attempt of 'Rock Star Ate My Hamster' with a fresh trainer and cracktro.
The aim of the game is to help Cecil and Clive manage a new band or singer and produce 4 gold discs within 1 year, so they can get out of the circus business. I struggled to last 2 weeks, but I probably shouldn't have chosen Wacky Jacko and Tina Turnoff, as their wages bust the bank immediately.
This isn't really a classic game, it has a sluggish screen loading/redrawing system and much of the dialog gets repeated, even in a single play through. The mildly offensive tongue-in-cheek humour, and the drive to turn over some record sales and put on some stadium gigs might just keep you busy one rainy Sunday afternoon... Probably while watching Simon Cowell pretending to like another hapless star wannabe on the TV. If only he'd stayed at the circus.
