I know many of us do love our NES games even ones that have that NES vibe such as Shovel Knight, but there's one game called ' Levantera: Tale of The Winds ' by Lasso Games that you might want to keep an eye on. Currently in Early Access and available to download as an Alpha, this game is an 8-bit action/RPG NES inspired title, whereby you can not only explore the world in an almost Sid Meier's Pirates! way, but also fight as a 2D side scrolling platformer in a game featuring an expansive world, a robust story, and a full musical score in chiptune style!
According to the developer, Levantera: Tale of The Winds is a bit of a special breed of game, as playing as the captain of the M.S Tradewind you must not only gather your crew and test your readiness to explore the world, but must fight combatants, find resources to repair your ship, and finally uncover the secrets of the arcane force of the wind: Levantera and find your lost crew!
