Legacy of the Beast - An Atari 2600 Shadow of the Beast inspiration released!
As we said before, here at Indie Retro News we try to give you the latest in unusual releases that don't often get a website mention, especially lately as there's been many of them, from open sourced games to updated C64 titles. Yet here we are with another update special, as we've just been informed by the coder named as pvmpkin, that he has now released his Shadow of the Beast inspiration for the Atari 2600 called 'Legacy of the Beast'.
This is an attempt to 'Demake' the original Shadow of the Beast and remain as faithful as possible given the technical capabilities of the Atari VCS/2600 system. Furthermore although development was started in February when he felt inspired to learn how 2600 games were made, this latest version developed entirely in 6502 Assembly, hopes to be filled with massive non-linear areas to explore, various traps, and enemy types all running on a physical Atari 2600 NTSC system or other 2600/VCS compatible based emulators.
