International Karate RCX/RC 2023 - Remake and new scenarios by Homesoft for the Atari XL/XE

Yet another Saberman heads up and no not an Amiga, C64 or ZX Spectrum game, is the Atari XL/XE karate remake called ' International Karate RCX/RC 2023 ' by Homesoft; a game which pits you against the computer or another player in a multitude of karate competitions! While details are sparse about this version of the game, from what we've found out is this is a remake with new scenarios for the Atari XL/XE with 130XE memory. In light of this news, Saberman was also kind enough to do a video of the game being played.

Here is what the wikipedia page says about the original game. "International Karate is a fighting game developed and published by System 3 for the ZX Spectrum in 1985 and ported to various home computers over the following years. In the United States it was published by Epyx in 1986 as World Karate Championship. It was the first European-developed game to become a major hit in the United States, where it sold over 1.5 million copies. However, it drew controversy for its similarities to Karate Champ (1984), which led to Data East filing a lawsuit against Epyx. International Karate +, a successor which expanded the gameplay, was released in 1987".

  1. Looks great and I'd also forgotten that IK initially came out on the Spectrum first.

  2. I love the fact I started to download all the disks, one by one, up until disk #150 when I noticed the "Download all" link. I really need help. LOL

  3. Did the developer add new frames to the animations? They seem somehow smoother than the original.
