Escape from PETSCII Castle - A WIP Wolfenstein 3D inspiration but for the Commodore C64 by Jimbo

This week we have been flooded with awesome Amiga games, so to change all that, here's the latest update from Jimbo, his newest of WIP creations for the Commodore C64 called ' Escape from PETSCII Castle'. A Wolfenstein 3D inspiration from the same creator who released other games on different systems such as PETSCII Bros, PET Panic!, PET Space Invaders 2 and TREKWAR. To coincide with this news, we've got some footage from the game as well as a very brief description below.

And here's the latest from Jimbo. "Wolfenstein 3D broke all the molds when it was release in 1992. This is a teased preview of my upcoming Commodore 64 game - Escape From PETSCII Castle. An 8-bit ray casting engine now with with walls, doors, hidden passages, weapons, ammo, keys and gold. Multiple levels of mayhem! Blocky enemies are now active. Next steps include improved enemies, better sound and more levels. The game was inspired by Wolfenstein 3D and was originally written for the Commodore PET."

  2. Why does it have to be an outdated shooter again? 3D engines are used for open-world adventures, horror and lots of other creative game genres nowadays.

    1. For one thing, there just aren't any such shooters on the Commodore 64 yet, that have all of this:
      * a full campaign
      * fluid gameplay
      * polish
      And are actually a finished project, so no demo, one 1-level proof of concept.

      Also, this is the purest form of a shooter. :3 More can always be done at a later time.

  4. The movement is nice, but the flying squares are not my favorite enemies. I don't like the sounds either. If these were better, this game would be really cool.
